Brantôme en Perigord
La Maison du Quai is located in Brantôme, a picturesque small town of just over 2,000 inhabitants in the Dordogne region of France. Situated in the Périgord Vert, Brantôme is surrounded by water, giving rise to its reputation as the "Venice of the Périgord".
The town itself is rich in history, with sights including the Benedictine Abbey (built by Charlemagne in 769), the 11th century Belfry (one of the oldest in France) and the Pont Coudé, an unusual 16th century right-angled bridge. The River Dronne, surrounding the town, provides the opportunity for fishing, canoeing and kayaking, or simply relaxing by the rivers edge and enjoying the gentle pace of life in this delightful town.
La Maison du Quai provides the perfect base for exploring the Dordogne, one of the most beautiful and popular regions of France, whose rich and varied heritage has been faithfully preserved. The region is famous for its gastronomy, castles, medieval towns and villages, attractive countryside and prehistoric caves, such as the caves at Lascaux and Font de Gaume.
